or.artspace
To or.artspace είναι το καλλιτεχνικό εργαστήριο της Ελπίδας Ρίκου, διδακτόρισσας κοινωνικής ψυχολογίας, ανθρωπολόγου, εικαστικού και ψυχοθεραπεύτριας. Το or.artspace αποτελεί τόπο ανταλλαγών και μαθητείας για άτομα και μικρές ομάδες που ενδιαφέρονται έμπρακτα για την έρευνα στην τέχνη και τις κοινωνικές επιστήμες, όπως και για τη δημιουργία, έκθεση και πώληση έργων σύγχρονης τέχνης. Ο χώρος λειτουργεί από το 2021 στην Αθήνα, στην οδό Δημητρακοπούλου 89 στο Κουκάκι και φιλοξενεί εκθέσεις, εργαστήρια, σεμινάρια και παρουσιάσεις, όπως και πρότζεκτ καλλιτεχνικής έρευνας.

Η πολυκατοικία στην οποία βρίσκεται το or.artspace έχει χτιστεί το 1962 στη θέση της κατοικίας του βιομήχανου Γεωργίου Κουκάκη, προπάππου της Ελπίδας Ρίκου, από τον οποίο πήρε το όνομά της η συνοικία.
The building in which or.artspace is located was built in 1962 on the site of the residence of the industrialist Georgios Koukakis, Elpida Rikou’s great grandfather, from whom the district takes its name.

or.artspace is the art studio of Elpida Rikou, PhD in social psychology, anthropologist, visual artist and psychotherapist. or.artspace is a place of exchange and apprenticeship for individuals and small groups who are actively interested in research in art and social sciences, as well as in the creation, exhibition and sale of contemporary art. The space is open since 2021 in Athens, at 89 Dimitrakopoulou Street in Koukaki and hosts exhibitions, workshops, seminars and presentations, as well as artistic research projects.

ΕΛΠΙΔΑ ΡΙΚΟΥ, PhD Κοινωνικής Ψυχολογίας, ανθρωπολόγος, εικαστικός και ψυχοθεραπεύτρια
H Ελπίδα Ρίκου (γενν.1963, Αθήνα) είναι διδακτόρισσα Κοινωνικής Ψυχολογίας (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Παρίσι), κοινωνική ανθρωπολόγος (D.E.A. Paris V Sorbonne, Παρίσι), πτυχιούχος κοινωνιολογίας (Πάντειο Πανεπιστήμιο, Αθήνα), εικαστική καλλιτέχνιδα (Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών Αθήνας) και ψυχοθεραπεύτρια ψυχαναλυτικής κατεύθυνσης (μέλος της Ελληνικής Συμβουλευτικής Εταιρείας, δόκιμο μέλος του Ελληνικού Ψυχαναλυτικού Χώρου Ντ.Γ.Γουίνικοτ).
Από το 1998 ως το 2022 η Ελπίδα Ρίκου δίδαξε κοινωνική ανθρωπολογία και σύγχρονη τέχνη, κοινωνική ψυχολογία και δημόσια υγεία σε προπτυχιακό και μεταπτυχιακό επίπεδο στην Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών Αθήνας και στα πανεπιστήμια Αθηνών, Πάντειο, Κρήτης, Θεσσαλίας, Ελληνικό Ανοικτό Πανεπιστήμιο, όπως και στην Εθνική Σχολή Δημόσιας Υγείας. Οι δημοσιεύσεις της περιλαμβάνουν άρθρα σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά, συλλογικούς τόμους, καταλόγους εκθέσεων και στον ημερήσιο τύπο, όπως και την επιμέλεια και συνεπιμέλεια βιβλίων, συλλογών κειμένων, ειδικών αφιερωμάτων και μεταφράσεων βιβλίων στο πεδίο μεταξύ σύγχρονης τέχνης και ανθρωπολογίας.
Από το 2016 ως το 2022 η Ελπίδα Ρίκου πρότεινε και συντόνισε το Εργαστήριο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης του Δήμου Χαλανδρίου (σε συνεργασία με την εικαστικό και ανθρωπολόγο Σοφία Γρηγοριάδου). Είναι ιδρυτικό μέλος του TWIXTlab (2014), ενός ερευνητικού, εκπαιδευτικού και δημιουργικού εγχειρήματος που τοποθετείται “μεταξύ” (twixt) τέχνης, ανθρωπολογίας και καθημερινής ζωής και του ανεξάρτητου καλλιτεχνικού χώρου or.artspace (2021, artist-run initiative). Το καλλιτεχνικό έργο της Ελπίδας Ρίκου περιλαμβάνει σχέδιο, ζωγραφική, κοινωνικά εμπλεκόμενες συμμετοχικές δράσεις και καλλιτεχνικά/ερευνητικά πρότζεκτς.

Elpida Rikou, PhD Social Psychology, anthropologist, visual artist and psychotherapist
Elpida Rikou (born in 1963 in Athens) holds a Ph.D. in Social Psychology (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris), a Master’s degree in Social Anthropology (D.E.A., Paris V Sorbonne, Paris), a bachelor’s degree in Sociology (Panteion University, Athens) and in visual arts (Athens School of Fine Arts). Today she also works as a psychotherapist specializing in psychoanalysis (member of the Hellenic Counseling Association, probationary member of the Hellenic Psychoanalytic Space D.G. Winnicott).
From 1998 to 2022, Elpida Rikou taught social anthropology and contemporary art, social psychology, and public health at the undergraduate and graduate levels at the Athens School of Fine Arts and at the Universities of Athens, Panteion, Crete, Thessaly, and the Hellenic Open University, as well as at the National School of Public Health. Her publications include articles in academic journals, anthologies, exhibition catalogs, and the daily press. She is the editor and co-editor of books, anthologies, special issues, and book translations at the intersection of contemporary art and anthropology.
From 2016 to 2022, Elpida Rikou proposed and coordinated the Contemporary Art Workshop of the Municipality of Halandri (in collaboration with visual artist and anthropologist Sofia Grigoriadou). She is a founding member of TWIXTlab (2014), a research, educational, and creative initiative situated “between” (twixt) art, anthropology, and everyday life, and the independent art space “or.artspace” (2021, artist-run initiative). Elpida Rikou’s artistic practice encompasses drawing, painting, socially engaged participatory art, and artistic/research projects.
