Η Ελπίδα Ρίκου (Αθήνα, 1963) σπούδασε κοινωνιολογία (Πάντειο Πανεπιστήμιο, Αθήνα), κοινωνική ψυχολογία (D.E.A. και Doctorat, E.H.E.S.S., Παρίσι), κοινωνική ανθρωπολογία (D.E.A., Université Paris V-Sorbonne, Παρίσι) και εικαστικές τέχνες (Aνωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών, Αθήνα). ‘Εχει παρακολουθήσει εκπαιδευτικά σεμινάρια στην ψυχαναλυτική ψυχοθεραπεία (C.F.R.P. και S.P.F., Παρίσι, 1994-1997) και έχει μετεκπαιδευτεί στη θεραπεία μέσω τέχνης (stage, Université Paris VII-Denis Diderot, Παρίσι, 1997). Από το 1998 ως σήμερα έχει διδάξει κοινωνική ψυχολογία και κοινωνική ανθρωπολογία σε προπτυχιακό και μεταπτυχιακό επίπεδο σε διάφορα πανεπιστήμια (Αθηνών, Πάντειο, Κρήτης, Θεσσαλίας, Ε.A.Π.), όπως και σε προγράμματα βιωματικής μάθησης (Πράξη «Ακαδημία Πλάτωνος»). Από το 2007 διδάσκει Ανθρωπολογία και Σύγχρονη Τέχνη στο Τμήμα Θ.Ι.Σ.Τ.Ε. της Ανωτάτης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών της Αθήνας, ενώ μεταξύ 2011 και 2013 δίδαξε επίσης στο Μεταπτυχιακό Εικαστικών Τεχνών (Μ.Ε.Τ.) της ίδιας σχολής. Από το 2016 έχει αναλάβει το Εργαστήριο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης του Δήμου Χαλανδρίου (σε συνεργασία με την εικαστικό Σοφία Γρηγοριάδου). Από το 2019 ως σήμερα ερευνά την εξέλιξη της καλλιτεχνικής έρευνας στην Ελλάδα (για το 2019-2020, σε συνεργασία με την ιστορικό τέχνης Κατερίνα Κωνσταντίνου και την υποστήριξη του Κέντρου Έρευνας για τις Ανθρωπιστικές Επιστήμες). Οι δημοσιεύσεις της περιλαμβάνουν την εισαγωγή και επιμέλεια της συλλογής κειμένων Ανθρωπολογία και Σύγχρονη Τέχνη (2013, Αλεξάνδρεια), της μετάφρασης του βιβλίου του M. Augé Για μια ανθρωπολογία των σύγχρονων κόσμων (1999, Αλεξάνδρεια), του τόμου Φωνές/Fonés με κείμενα και έργα καλλιτεχνών και κοινωνικών επιστημόνων (2016, νήσος, μαζί με τον Π. Πανόπουλο), καθώς και της μετάφρασης του βιβλίου του Α. Gell Τέχνη και Δράση (υπό δημοσίευση στις εκδόσεις του Μ.Ι.Ε.Τ.), του τόμου Αξία με κείμενα και έργα καλλιτεχνών και θεωρητικών (2018, νήσος, μαζί με τους Ε. Γιαλούρη και Α. Λαμπρόπουλο), ενός ειδικού αφιερώματος The Art of Research Practices Between Art and Anthropology του ηλεκτρονικού περιοδικού Field. A Journal of Socially Engaged Art Criticism (vol.11, 2018, μαζί με την Ε.Γιαλούρη) και ενός ειδικού αφιερώματος στο ερευνητικό πρόγραμμα Learning from documenta στο ίδιο περιοδικό (vol.18-19, μαζί με τους Ε. Γιαλούρη και Α. Λαμπρόπουλο). ‘Εχει δημοσιεύσει άρθρα σε επιστημονικά περιοδικά, συλλογικούς τόμους, καταλόγους εκθέσεων και στον ημερήσιο τύπο. Το καλλιτεχνικό της έργο περιλαμβάνει ζωγραφική, video και συμμετοχικές δράσεις. Από το 2010 συντονίζει καλλιτεχνικά και ερευνητικά projects με διεπιστημονικό χαρακτήρα, στα οποία συμμετέχει και η ίδια ως ανθρωπολόγος και εικαστικός. Από το 2014 είναι ιδρυτικό μέλος του TWIXTlab (Α.Μ.Κ.Ε.), ενός ερευνητικού, εκπαιδευτικού και δημιουργικού εγχειρήματος που τοποθετείται μεταξύ τέχνης, ανθρωπολογίας και καθημερινής ζωής, με έδρα το Παγκράτι. Το 2021 ανοίγει το or.artspace στο Κουκάκι, έδρα ατομικής επιχείρησης που λειτουργεί ως χώρος μαθητείας, δημιουργίας, έκθεσης και πώλησης έργων σύγχρονης τέχνης.

Elpida Rikou (Athens, 1963) has studied sociology (Panteion University, Athens), social anthropology (D.E.A., Université Paris V-Sorbonne), social psychology (D.E.A. and Ph.D, Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris) and visual arts (Athens School of Fine Arts). Rikou has also attended psychoanalytic psychotherapy training seminars (C.F.R.P. and S.P.F., Paris, 1994-1997) and was trained in art and therapeutic mediations (stage, Université Paris VII-Denis Diderot, Paris, 1997). She has taught social psychology and social anthropology at graduate and postgraduate programs at different universities (Universities of Crete, Thessaly, Athens, Panteion and Hellenic Open University) as well as in experiential learning programs (“Plato Academy), since 1998. She teaches Anthropology and Contemporary Art in the Department of Theory and History of Art of the Athens School of Fine Arts since 2007. From 2011 to 2013 she has also taught in the Postgraduate Program (Master in Fine Arts) of the Department of Visual Arts of the same School. She is in charge of the Contemporary Art Workshop of the Municipality of Chalandri (in collaboration with visual artist Sofia Grigoriadou) since 2016. Her current research focuses on artistic research in Greece (starting in 2019 when she collaborated for one year with art historian Katerina Konstantinou, with the support of the Research Center for the Humanities). She is the editor of Antrhopologia ke Sigchroni Techni (Anthropology and Contemporary Art, a collection of texts of British and American anthropologists and art theorists published in Greek by Alexandria in 2013) for which she has written the introduction, of Marc Augé’s book Pour une anthropologie des mondes contemporains (published in Greek by Alexandria in 1999), for which she has also written the introduction. She has co-edited with Panos Panopoulos the volume Φωνές/Fonés (Voices), with texts and works of artists and social scientists (2016, nissos, with Panos Panopoulos), as well as the translation of Alfred Gell’s book Art And Agency (in press from the National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation). She has also co-edited with Eleana Yalouri a special issue on The Art of Research Practices Between Art and Anthropology of Field. A Journal of Socially Engaged Art Criticism (vol.11, 2018) and with Eleana Yalouri and Apostolos Lampropoulos, the volume Αξία (Value) with texts and works of artists and theorists (2018, nissos), and a special issue dedicated to the research Learning from documenta also in Field (2021, vol.18-19). She has published articles in scientific periodicals, edited collections, art catalogues and newspapers. Her work includes painting, video and participatory artworks. She is the coordinator of several art projects with an interdisciplinary character, since 2010, in which she is also a participant as an anthropologist and visual artist. She is a founding member of TWIXTlab (ngo), an art research and education project situated in between art, anthropology and the everyday, based in Pangrati, Athens. In 2021 Rikou launches or.artspace at Koukaki, Athens, in self-employment basis, which functions as a space for apprenticeship, creation, exhibition and sale of contemporary artworks.
